US firm Mycroft has recently announced that it is planning to establish an operations centre in Waterford, creating 50 jobs. The new operations centre will be focused on the development of Mycroft’s next generation of cloud-based IT identity and security solutions, technical support and further research and development projects.
The news comes after the global provider of identity management and security solutions to some of the world’s largest organisations, found that demand was growing rapidly for its solutions, in order to satisfy its customers, the firm is expanding its EMEA footprint and opening a new operations centre.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton welcomed the news and remarked that there is great potential for Ireland in the cloud. He commented that, “a recent report by Microsoft predicted that by 2014 the cloud computing industry in Ireland could be worth €9.5 billion and could employ 8,600 people.” He added that, “the report also recommended that the public sector could take a lead, and I am determined to drive this process so that Ireland can become a world leader in this sector.”
Mycroft Inc. CEO Terry Jost stated that, “Waterford is an excellent location for Mycroft Inc.’s newest facility and will serve as an integral part of our continued growth in the European and Middle East markets."
