The fourth iteration of Apple’s iPhone may not have arrived on these shores just yet but that hasn’t stopped local companies developing products to make the most of the handset.

Mobile network operator Cubic Telecom has launched what it says is the first low cost roaming solution for the iPhone 4 allowing users to access the Internet, make calls and send SMS anywhere in Europe without racking up expensive roaming charges. The iPhone 4, which went on sale in the US in June, will be available across Europe from the end of July.

“MAXROAM products dramatically reduce customers’ mobile roaming costs when travelling across Europe,” said Pat Phelan, director of products and innovation at Cubic Telecom. “We are constantly developing new technology to stay ahead of mobile operators who charge extortionate roaming rates. Our service is fully transparent and user friendly with no contracts, no bills and definitely no shocks.”

The SIM cards are sold under the brand name MAXROAM and can be purchased now at MAXROAM.COM for €99 with 50Mb of preloaded data, 90 minutes of calls and 100 SMS. Any iPhone user can now avail of one low cost rate across Europe. This announcement follows on from last month’s launch of the MAXROAM SIM card for the iPad.
