Computer 2000 has been appointed as a distributor for Symantec security and availability solutions in Ireland. The firms say they will work together “to develop further reseller engagement” and to drive growth in the Irish market for Symantec’s SME-focused security and backup solutions.

One result of the deal will be to make Symantec BackUp Exec and the new Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition solution more accessible and available to Irish resellers, who will now have access to Computer 2000’s stock-holding and delivery, support and credit services.

Training in Backup Exec and Endpoint Protection solutions has been completed by all of C2000’s 10-strong Irish account management and sales team.

Irish resellers can place orders with Computer 2000 by calling a dedicated Irish number at normal rates. They can also place and manage orders on-line though the company’s web-based service, InTouch.

C2000’s James Reed describes Symantec as one of the most trusted names in digital security and storage management. He said the security firm’s solutions present “a considerable opportunity for resellers” in Ireland.

Symantec’s Helen Wood, channel sales director for the UK and Ireland, notes: “Computer 2000 adds a valuable new dimension to our presence in Ireland, and provides Symantec resellers with access to a tremendous range of services and resources.”
