Co Meath has most solar installations per capita in 2024

Dublin lags behind for installations per capital, says Energy Efficiency Ireland

According to a report from Energy Efficiency Ireland, Co Meath saw the most solar power installations carried out in the country in the first half of 2024. The county reported 36.14 installations per 10,000 people, followed by Co Louth with 35.52 installations per 10,000 people. Longford reported the lowest figure of 16.08 installations per 10,000 people.

The capital had a mixed bag when it came to scoring. Co. Dublin reported the largest number of installations at 3,014 yet on a per capital basis only had 22 installations per 10,000 people, putting it in the bottom five.

Overall there were 13,498 installations nationwide in the first six months. The figures were collated by energy efficiency experts, analysed SEAI solar PV installation statistics for each county, as well as the population data from the most recent Census.
