Citrix, ICT Ireland Skillnet invest in direct education for jobs

Citrix and ICT Ireland Skillnet are offering a free, 15-week course for 15 IT graduates seeking jobs. The move follows a successful pilot scheme in 2012 which saw nine graduates move into full-time employment after successfully completing the programme.

The course is designed to prepare graduates for entry into jobs such as technical support engineers – usually within the Citrix partner ecosystem. Up to half of participants will be offered a job at Citrix.

The initiative has received funding from the Government through Skillnet and its member companies. Skillnet coordinated by ICT Ireland, a federation within the Irish Business and Employers Confederation (IBEC).

Paul Sweetman, director, IBEC, said: "There is a wealth of untapped talent in Ireland’s graduate pool. By providing the necessary practical work experience and targeted training, graduates will be in a strong position to succeed in Ireland’s thriving ICT industry. Continuing to invest in our future workforce is imperative and this partnership with Citrix is one step in paving the way for the next generation."
