Figures released today by Web analytics firm StatCounter have shown that Chrome was the world’s most-used Internet browser for the month of May. The figures mark first time Google’s browser held the top spot for a full calendar month.

For the full month of May, Chrome took 32.43% of the worldwide market from over 15 billion page views. IE had 32.12% of the market while Mozilla’s Firefox held 25.55%.

Aodhan Cullen, CEO of StatCounter, said: "While attention has recently been focused on the battle between Chrome and IE, not-for-profit Mozilla’s Firefox with its loyal membership base should not be underestimated." An upswing of over 0.6% in Firefox usage from April to May helped push Chrome into pole position.
