Most Wi-Fi hot spot locators show only the presence of a signal and relative signal strength, using four LEDs.
The Canary Wireless Digital Hotspotter HS10 has a 12-character LCD to provide complete hot spot information.
After a scan, the HS10 displays the network name (SSID) or cloaked (SSID suppressed) signal strength (1 to 4 bars), whether the network is open or secured, and the operating channel.
If multiple wireless networks are present, the front-panel push button scrolls through additional networks.
It’s bulkier and pricier than the LED-based locators, but the additional information may well be worth the trade-off.
