Eircom and wholesale company BWG Foods, operator of the SPAR, EUROSPAR, MACE and XL brands, have partnered to roll out eircom’s WiFiHub service in 150 stores throughout Ireland. Fifty-three BWG stores have eircom’s WiFiHub service installed and eircom operates a total of 1,400 hotspots around the country.
The service has been installed in stores in 16 including stores in Leitrim, Clare, Kerry, Cork, Carlow, Meath and throughout Dublin city centre and suburbs.
To access the service, customers log in to the eircom WiFiHub webpage or use a mobile app available for iOS and Android devices.
Eircom broadband, eMobile and Meteor customers can access the service free at any of the WiFiHub enabled stores. Landline and non-eircom customers can also avail of the service, with the first 10 minutes free followed by a flat rate daily charge of €1.00 until midnight that day.
Elaine Robinson, director of products and strategy, eircom said: "BWG Foods has a strong retail presence in Ireland, which is key as we continue to roll out the eircom WiFiHub service throughout the country."
Veronica Sullivan, head of IT at BWG Foods, said: "This is an important new service as part of our ongoing digital strategy because our stores are much more than a place to shop; they’re a meeting place for coffee with friends, or a working lunch, so we wanted to help our customers stay connected."
