Bullguard Internet Security 6 is a set of programs to keep your computer data safe. It incorporates an anti-virus program, firewall (to protect against hackers and spyware), spam filtering and backup tools.
Despite the large list of features, it is quite easy to use as everything is accessed from a single control panel. After installation, Bullguard Internet Security 6 automatically downloads the latest virus updates. It also suggests you run a full virus scan of your PC. Unlike some free anti-virus programs, Bullguard lets you scan files on other files connected to a home network.
The integrated firewall protection detects when each program on your PC tries to send or receive data via the internet, such as instant messaging programs. Each time, a pop-up will ask you to allow or forbid it, although this only needs to be done for each program.
Bullguard Antispam is designed to reduce the number of unsolicited e-mails you receive in e-mail clients, such as Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, by using the collective input of Bullguard users worldwide to classify e-mails as spam. In practice, though, we still received a number of unwelcome e-mails.
Bullguard Backup provides 1 GB of space on its servers where data can be archived. While this certainly saves hard disk space, the service can be slow due to the limited upload speeds of most broadband connections, but it represents quite good value for money.
On the whole, Bullguard 6 offers a good degree of protection and the online backup option makes it stand out from the crowd.
