Zyxel has launched its budget ADSL 2+ modem/wireless router, allowing users and home offices to easily set up a wireless LAN. The P-660HW series offers higher data transfer rates and better bandwidth than traditional ADSL modems/routers, says the manufacturer. This enables users to dump the ADSL modem supplied when they joined their broadband provider and replace it with a unit with wireless capabilities.

The P-660HW lets users share broadband connections or to allow file-share between multiple computers. Zyxel claims the P-660HW includes features that users would expect to find in more expensive products such as a 4-port Ethernet hub. Its media bandwidth management system, for example, allows administrators to alter the Quality of Service settings to cater for critical network traffic such as VoIP. Other features include firewall security, IP management, and roaming support.

Included in the price (£39.99 ex-VAT in the UK) is a USB wireless adaptor.
