Bon Secours, Cork has invested €330,000 in a new fully automated HR and payroll system. The new system took 12 months to implement and is expected to improve management information for the hospital and increase efficiency. The hospital’s 1,100 employees will be affected by the new system as it will be aiding in the management of the hospital’s 286 shift patterns and 600 rostering schedules.
The bespoke IT system was developed by the Irish software development company Softworks in conjunction with the hospital’s IT department. The new time and attendance management system (TAMS) works on a biometric system, allowing all employees to log in and out, thereby providing an accurate record of staff shifts, rosters, etc. Due to its successful implementation in Bon Secours Cork, there are plans to roll out the new system in the other Bon Secours hospitals in Dublin, Galway and Tralee.
IT manager at Bon Secours Cork, Tony McKeown was confident that the new system will provide major benefits to the hospital. He commented that, “this is the first time a system like this has been implemented across all employees in a hospital environment. I have no doubt that our new TAMS system will make a huge difference to the smooth running of the hospital by helping the HR department to maintain a comprehensive database of all staff, across all grades.”
