This is one for the younger members of the family. Blinx, our hero, is on a mission to save a kidnapped princess who has been kidnapped by people planning to steal all the time crystals. He wanders through time, collecting the time crystals before they cause glitches in time. Along the way, Blinx must battle the Time Monsters, who are wreaking havoc.
Suck up the trash littering the surrounding area with Blinx’s trusty Time Sweeper, the TS100 – funnily enough, benches and barrels are included in that generalisation – and shoot it at the monsters to defeat them.
One of the best aspects of this game is the time control. Collecting different crystals to form combinations will give you certain controls – such as rewinds, pauses and fast forwards, which can all be very useful at a crucial stage in the action. Use the rewinds to undo something vital, such as the destruction of a statue.
Visually, the game is quite impressive. It’s cartoon nature may prevent it from being a showcase for the realistic graphics that we have seen on other Xbox games, but they are quite impressive nonetheless. Blinx moves quite slowly, which can be frustrating when you are trying to fight a particularly difficult enemy, and the speed at which he sucks up objects could be improved.
The early levels are quite short, although there are a certain amount of ‘secrets’ to collect on each level. However, it just feels like they are over too soon. Later levels are much more difficult; throw in a time limit and you will find yourself playing each level from the beginning over and over again to defeat it. Hours of entertainment.
