Wake up to Wi-Fi: Model Jenny Lee Masterson test drives the Carlton’s Wi-Fi network from the comfort of a hotel bed

Wireless network operator Bitbuzz has signed its biggest-ever deal, to provide Wi-Fi access to the Carlton Hotel Group’s Irish hotels.

Bitbuzz business development manager Russell McQuillan remarked: “This is a major deal for Bitbuzz. The Carlton Hotel Group is one of the largest hotel groups in Ireland, with 10 hotels nationwide and over 1,300 bedrooms.”

He said the new contract raises Bitbuzz coverage in hotel bedrooms from 6,300 to over 7,600.

The deal sees Bitbuzz roll-out its Wi-Fi service to the entire Carlton Hotel Group. The service goes into operation immediately at the Carlton’s hotels at Tralee, Dublin Airport, Kinsale, Westport and Donegal. Others will follow.

Carlton Hotel Group CEO Michael Kearney noted: “This is also an important step for the Carlton. Before signing up to Bitbuzz we had been using a number of different Wi-Fi solutions across the group. This deal will provide continuity and reliability of service for our guests.”

The Bitbuzz Fusion package provides a solution for hotels that want to offer free Wi-Fi access while still being able to generate revenue. Carlton Hotel guests get half an hour of free Wi-Fi access daily, with additional time for purchase from the hotel.
