Wi-Fi network operator Bitbuzz has announced operating figures for the year to end December 2011 revealing continued growth in revenue and subscriber numbers. Bitbuzz experienced a 26% year-on-year increase in revenue to €1.487 million in 2011, up from €1.1 million in 2010.

The company had a total of 610,000 registered users in Ireland and the UK by the end of December, a 43% increase on the 355,590 users recorded at the end of 2010.

The growth in registered users and data downloads has been ascribed to the popularity of smartphones; which now accounts for just under 40% of Bitbuzz’s total sage.
