Wi-Fi network operator Bitbuzz has installed its 500th Wi-Fi hotspot this week in the Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa, Sligo.

Seamus Preston, general manager of Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa, said: “This new partnership with Bitbuzz, also opens up more opportunities to host a larger number of conferences and events. In the past year, we have seen a big increase in demand for a fast and reliable Wi-Fi service, thanks to the growth in use of smartphones, tablets and laptops amongst our guests.”

Russell McQuillan, business development director, Bitbuzz, added: “In 2003, our first hotspot was in Dublin City Centre and the landmark 500th hotspot is now the West Coast of Ireland, we continue to expand our reach across Ireland and the UK. No matter where the hotspot is located, there is a robust demand for a strong Wi-Fi offering, we will continue to meet these demands.”

Bitbuzz’ first hotspot was fitted in Dublin’s Globe Bar on South Great George’s St. in Dublin. Today, the company has 2,353,429 registered users, 500 hotspots and is recording over 850,000 logins per month across Ireland and the UK.
