Beaumex, an Irish distributor of home entertainment products such as the X-Box, is using Opera software to help meet mandatory Microsoft reporting procedures.
With a projected turnover of €46m for 2004, Beaumex is a major player in the Irish home entertainment industry and distributes compact discs, videos, DVD’s, Playstation hardware and games to the retail sector. The company also distributes 02 mobile phones.
According to financial director Shane Casey, Beaumex is the new agency for sales and distribution of Microsoft’s new Xbox and the system has recently been fine tuned by supplier Quantum Business Solutions to enable the firm to comply with Microsoft’s mandatory reporting procedures.
‘It is vital for us that we report to Microsoft each week with accurate information on each individual item sold to every individual customer, including the date, quantity etc. We must also show an exact report of stock on hand at the end of each week. As the
information we send Microsoft is streamed into a worldwide system, we need a reporting procedure that is accurate, timely and reliable.’
‘We have gained many benefits since installing Opera; benefits ranging from day-to-day savings, amounting to 80 per cent in one area of the accounts package, to the computerisation of more areas of our business than ever before,’ said Casey. He added that Opera is also useful from a sales point of view.
