Apple’s quick fix for Do Not Disturb bug: Wait until 7 January

3 January 2013

Many iOS device owners rang in the new year quietly as idevices’ Do Not Disturb function ceased working properly on New Year’s Day. Apple now has posted the ‘fix’: wait until 7 January.

Introduced in iOS 6, Apple unveiled to kick off the new year, the Do Not Disturb feature mutes push notifications when your iPhone or iPad are asleep, preventing not just the sounds of those alerts, lighting up of the screens and lets users schedule specific windows during which to enjoy some quiet time.

But starting on the first day of 2013, Do Not Disturb offered iOS users even less disturbance than those users might desire. For many, Do Not Disturb failed to switch off at the scheduled end time. Apple says that until the fix is released users will just have to manually turn the feature on or off. To do so, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> and tap to switch the slider.
