Apple is expected release two new models of AirPods in September. These are two relatively cheaper versions, although for now it is not clear what the estimated retail price will be.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple expert at Bloomberg, confirms earlier rumors that Apple will launch two more new versions of their AirPods this year. These models will be presented at the big Apple Event scheduled in September, at which the iPhone 16 series will also be announced.

The new AirPods should replace the secnd and third generation models released between 2019 and 2021. Those older models are both currently still on sale, but would be phased out if the new releases are confirmed.

According to Gorman, the cheapest model has no special additional features. The slightly more expensive model will, however, feature active noise cancellation and a Find My feature in the charging case that allows you to easily locate the case via an app on your smartphone. Both models appear to get better battery life.

In terms of design, both models would be identical to each other. They are also likely to be quite similar to the existing models. What both devices will be called is unknown for now.

A successor to the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Max 2 will have to wait even longer. Neither are expected to be updated until after 2025.
