Geocaching

According to Groundspeak, this app’s developers, there are over 1,400,000 geocaches worldwide. That’s a lot of treasure hunting, if you’re into that kind of thing. In geocaching participants hide and seek hidden physical containers outdoors and then share their adventures online via a 3G or Wi-Fi connection.
The app provides real-time, direct access to Geocaching.com’s database, where you can contribute your own notes and additions to caches. While there is a paid version of this app available, user feedback to date has been that the free version is more than up to the job.
