Fatmap uses 3D imaging to help you plan your skiing holiday

12 November 2014

Fatmap
For: Android, iOS

Fatmap is a 3D ski mapping app set to revolutionise skiing and snowboarding that uses high-resolution triscopic satellite imagery to create models of the most popular ski areas in Chamonix, Verbier, Zermatt, Val D’Isere & Tignes (Espace Killy) and Les Arcs & La Plagne (Paradiski).

The apps mos timpressive feature is the virtual reality 3D fly-throughs which will help both piste and freeride users plan and experience their routes before heading out and following them easily using GPS-enabled navigation.

Detailed piste mapping can be used to plan a day on the slopes, show the best runs, sunniest areas, top-rated restaurants, view points, plus all the information you’d expect like lift status and weather conditions.

The app will launch in December on iOS and Android. A Windows version is due early next year.

DYC HaveYourSay
For: iOS, Android, Windows Phone

The Digital Youth Council (DYC) is the first organisation in Europe designed to represent the interests of young people in technology so it makes sense that its first app is another groundbreaker.

HaveYourSay provides a line of communication from young smartphone users to the DYC so they can share their thoughts on science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects. The assembled opinions can then be used by the council in compiling reports.

The app was developed by DYC members, Cormac Kinsella and Cian Martin Bohan.
