An Post has annouced the inclusion of Browsealoud to their website. This facility allows content from the website to be read aloud.

The software adds speech to websites, highlighting each word as it is spoken. This new feature is expected to improve reading comprehension for over 20% of the population with dyslexia, literacy difficulties and those with mild visual impairments who find reading text online difficult.

Joe Murray, Web manager at An Post stated “As part of our commitment to literacy, we introduced Browsealoud to our website. Online visitors can now listen to the text being read aloud to them.”

Web users can download Browsealoud quickly and easily by following hyperlinks on any Browsealoud-enabled website. The tool is free for online visitors to use, with the cost covered by An Post, and will speak Web content aloud on any website which subscribes to the service.
