Amazon and Google collaborate on multi‑cloud networking service
In response to the growing need for reliable internet connections, Amazon and Google have teamed up on a multi‑cloud networking service. This new offering addresses the significant impact that even brief internet disruptions can have, as illustrated by the recent outage of Amazon’s Web Services (AWS) that affected many websites around the world.
The service, which combines AWS interconnectivity with Google Cloud’s cross‑cloud interconnectivity, will allow customers to establish fast private connections between the two cloud platforms in minutes instead of weeks. This improvement in network interoperability is intended to simplify the movement of data and applications between clouds, according to representatives of the two companies.
Salesforce is one of the first users of this joint approach. The collaboration marks an important shift in multi‑cloud connectivity, enabling businesses to capitalize on the strengths of both AWS and Google Cloud.
As tech giants such as Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon continue to pour money into infrastructure to support rising internet traffic and the demands of artificial intelligence, this new service offers a timely solution for greater connectivity and reliability. Although Amazon is the world’s largest provider of cloud services, its cloud operations are still growing rapidly and far exceed Google Cloud’s revenue.
