Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant, is venturing into the smart glasses market with its Quark AI glasses.

These glasses, which will be launched in China at the end of 2025, will be based on Alibaba’s Qwen large language model and the Quark AI assistant. With this move, Alibaba positions itself as a direct competitor to Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses and Xiaomi’s AI glasses.

The Quark AI glasses are designed to offer a hands-free experience with features such as calling, music streaming, real-time translation, and meeting transcription. An integrated camera further enhances the functionality. Alibaba plans to leverage its extensive ecosystem of services by integrating navigation, Alipay payments, and price comparison from its Taobao e-commerce platform into the glasses.
