Adobe is significantly expanding its generative AI capabilities within both Firefly and Express. This expansion includes new models, applications and features designed to simplify content creation for users of all levels. Two new text-to-image models, Image Model 4 and Image Model 4 Ultra, were introduced at Adobe Max 2025. Image Model 4 focuses on speed and basic illustration, while Image Model 4 Ultra focuses on photorealism in portraits and complex scenes. These models are now accessible to subscribers through the Firefly app, which also includes powerful filters, style matching and composition tools.

Adobe is making Firefly more versatile by allowing third party models, with integrations for OpenAI, Google’s Veo 2 and Flux 1.1 Pro already available. Future partnerships include fal.ai, Ideogram, Luma, Pika and Runway.

A new Vector Model allows designers to generate editable vector artwork using natural language prompts. Firefly Boards, a public beta tool for creating storyboards and concepts, combines text-to-image generation, AI-driven refinements and moodboard editing in a single interface. The Firefly Video model, previously previewed, is now generally available. It supports text- and image-based video generation, making it useful for creating custom b-roll, background visuals and stylized edits.

Adobe Express is also getting several AI-powered upgrades for video editors. A Clip Maker tool uses AI to identify key moments in long videos and create shareable clips with captions or approximations. Enhance Speech removes background noise for clearer audio, while Video Self-Record enables self-filming within Adobe Express. Other additions include Drop Zone and Scene View for batch editing clips and rearranging the timeline, and Dynamic Animation to turn still images into moving images. Users can now export videos directly to Vimeo. Enterprise customers benefit from the Similar Generate feature, which creates on-brand variations based on reference images. More than 30 new visual filters are also being rolled out across the platform.

Firefly subscriptions start at $9.99 per month, with plans tailored for individuals, teams and students. These updates signal Adobe’s commitment to making generative AI tools more accessible, intuitive and professional on both desktop and mobile platforms.
