If you have never used a GPS system before and don’t want to spend a lot of money and only need to use it in your car, then this could be the solution. The Magellan Roadmate 300 is a lightweight, accurate, easy to use GPS receiver. It features a brightly-lit colour screen that’s very readable in sunlight. The windshield mount is also extremely sturdy. The Roadmate offers voice and text guided driving instructions and is ideal for anyone who finds themselves using a map on a regular basis.
On the down side, the computations can be quite slow at times, while the absence of an internal battery can be annoying. The device just turns off if disconnected from the lighter socket and depending on where the socket is, you are restricted in where you can place the Roadmate. On the up side, it is affordable, can be surprisingly accurate in rural and remote areas and, most importantly, you’ll never have to stop the car to read a map again.
