Individuals needing skips can now benefit from a partnership between waste management company Greenstar and Onlinetradesmen.com, an internet service providing free access to over 7,200 accredited tradesman nationwide. Property owners, DIY home renovation enthusiasts and others can order a skip online from Greenstar and have it delivered to their door. Price of the service includes use of the skip for three full days, collection of the skip and disposal of  the waste in it.

Prices start at €135 for a 2.5 cubic yard ‘mini’ skip for house/garden clearance or minor construction work;  €190 for a 4 cubic yard ‘midi’ skip’; or €275 for a 6 cubic yard ‘standard’ skip for larger clearouts. Greenstar will also arrange the necessary permit for customers in the Dublin City Council region who need to park their skip on a roadway.

Greenstar marketing head Keith McCormack said: “Onlinetrademen.com is leading the way in providing Irish consumers with reliable access to accredited tradesmen and services throughout the country.  Since its launch in October 2005, it has processed over 9,000 requests and we are proud to be the first waste management company to partner with them to meet customers’ waste needs. Recent customer research by onlinetrademen.com confirms the high level of home extensions and alterations being made in Ireland, with 28% of surveyed property owners saying they have prioritised the addition of a new kitchen to their property in 2006. The addition of a new bedroom comes in second at 21% and a new bathroom a close third for 20.06% of those sampled.
