Network service provider Lan Communications has been named the first platinum partner for Fortinet security products in Ireland. The accreditation recognises Lan Comms’ expertise in designing, installing and supporting Fortinet’s range of multi-threat security solutions across government and enterprise markets.

California-based Fortinet’s partner programme was launched in late 2004 by Irish distributor Espion to aid IT security specialists in improving service to customers. The highest of three accreditations, Platinum Reseller requires that resellers nominate a certain number of staff to achieve a defined level of competency in sales and technical acumen, achieved through Fortinet training. Resellers must also sell a certain volume, demonstrating theoretical and practical experience.

Fortinet’s regional director for Ireland, UK and South Africa, Phil Keeling noted that the Irish market was becoming increasing sophisticated as companies sought to install unified threat management (UTM) solutions to protect their systems.
