Computer maker HP and Irish telco 3 have teamed up to offer discounts on some HP laptop models. The discount is aimed primarily at students, but is open to all new 3 mobile broadband subscribers buying specified HP portable PCs.

This means an 18% saving, or €100 off the suggested retail price of a CQ60 Compaq Presario laptop or €50 (14%) off a Compaq Mini 110 netbook.

The telco says the offer is open to its new pre-pay and bill-pay broadband customers through its stores nationwide, via www.three.ie or by calling 1800-330-333.

Commenting on the announcement, Paul Byrne, Head of Mobile Broadband at 3 noted that students “now require both laptops and mobile broadband for their studies”, and that the offer “suits both their needs and their pockets!”

Byrne stressed that the offer is “open to all new mobile broadband customers, and we would encourage both students and everyday consumers to avail.”

HP’s Noel Kelly, head of telco sales, said it “makes sense” for 3 to make its “always on mobile broadband bundle available throughout the country.”
