Mobile telecommunications operator 3 has announced it has surpassed the milestone of 150,000 mobile broadband customers in Ireland. The statement comes in conjunction with the release of new price plans for its HSDPA product.
The new price plans introduce a new data cap threshold of 15Gb with €1.33 per additional Gb.
Claiming 90% broadband coverage nationwide, 3’s mobile broadband devices (E160G and E180G) are now available for €19 and €49 on post pay price plan options. The E160G and E180G device are enabled for speeds of up to 3.6Mb/s downlink and 384Kb/s uplink and 7.2Mb/s downlink and 2Mb/s uplink respectively.
Commenting on the announcement, Robert Finnegan, chief executive of 3, said, “Many of the world’s leading equipment manufacturers now acknowledge mobile broadband as the leading broadband technology and their global roadmaps reflect this. The continued rapid development of mobile broadband has resulted in 3 taking on the role of market pioneer in Ireland.”
Earlier this year 3 was awarded the governemtnt tender to deliver mobile broadband connevtivity to rural areas as part of the National Broadband Scheme (NBS).
