The WVC54GC-UK is designed for use in the home or small office and is a wireless monitoring device providing users with an affordable way of monitoring their home or office via a web browser.

The proviso is that the user has access to broadband and if so, the footage can be seen anywhere in the world. The camera works by sending a high quality live video stream through the Internet. Unlike standard web cams which require an attached PC, this Linksys model contains its own IP address so users can easily connect to a wired or wireless LAN network.

The camera can also be wall-mounted or slipped into a bundles stand for desktop use. Once connected to a network and the Internet, the user is able to see the clear camera view from any Windows-based PC, in the house or office. Advanced features of the camera include automated monitoring by Intamac via a subscription-based remote server platform. With the included 30 day trial,  as soon as the camera detects motion, the Intamac software begins to record the video feed, storing up to two minutes of images.

At the same time, automated alerts can be sent via text message, a telephone call or by e-mail informing a customer that motion was detected by the camera at their home or place of business. Costing €7.25 per month, the Intamac Home Manager secure online account provides secure access to retrieve the recorded images, and to view the live video streams from all cameras in the home. If the user is unable to access a PC at the time, they can also request images be sent to their mobile phone via MMS or as a vide clip for viewing.
