Cork-based Wisetek Solutions, a provider of used IT asset disposals and secure data destruction services, is to merge its US operation with Computer Discounters, who trade under the DataKillers brand. The new company will become one of the largest suppliers of refurbished IT equipment in the world, offering a standardised delivery of IT asset disposals and data destruction services.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wisetek CEO Sean Sheehan said: “This is a key strategic move for Wisetek that supports our combined customers’ requirement for standardised services delivery, to ensure that their critical data destruction and IT asset disposal operations meet their stringent data security and CSR environmental standards.”

Chris Scott, president and CEO, Computer Discounters, said: “DataKillers and Wisetek are already successfully working in close partnership to deliver controlled data destruction services globally, to our combined multi-national customers. Our joining together is already proven to be a welcome development by these combined clients to deliver the global services they require from a single source.

“DataKillers’ extensive coverage in the USA combined with Wisetek’s strength in Europe and Asian markets; plus, their customer management control systems, provides considerable market synergies.

Wisetek’s blue-chip client base includes some of the world’s leading IT corporations, data centre service providers, large corporate and government IT users. It has a global network or remarketing offices, ensuring maximum value recovery of material which is not required by our customers. Any material not required is responsibly recycled to protect the environment.
