Californian wireless networking infrastructure specialist Meru is expanding into the Irish market following a deal with Dublin-based value added distributor GVD.

The Irish distributor will bring Meru’s wireless networking infrastructure solutions to its base of value-added resellers, systems integrators and service providers in Ireland. GVD has already helped Meru gain significant wins in Ireland, an achievement largely attributed to Meru’s Virtual Cell WLAN architecture and the increasing demand for wireless networking products based on the high-performance IEEE 802.11n standard.

Meru Networks also has a presence in London, Stockholm, Paris, Madrid and the Middle East.

Meru’s David Kelly, VP for international sales, said GVD had “an admirable capacity for pre- and post-sales support.” Kelly noted: “Engagements with customers and the channel have gone very well, and they have added a lot of value in all of the processes of our joint projects.”

GVD MD Gordon Smith enthused about Meru Networks’ “technical breakthrough” in the wireless LAN sector. “The great thing about Meru’s Virtual Cell technology is that it gives customers a cohesive network with no blind spots. It makes planning and building a network so much easier, and customers love its coherence and simplicity.”

GVD will stock Meru’s full line of IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n access points and controllers, and will provide resellers with pre- and post-sales support services, including training and demand generation.
