In an event hosted by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) in conjunction with CIPD, IT company Version 1 was recognised for its commitment to people development at the Excellence in People Development Awards.

The awards recognise the development of people across a range of industries including information technology, education and healthcare, with twenty one awards.

“I’m delighted to see that so many leading Irish companies recognise that their best competitive edge is their staff – the people who make sure that things happen on a daily basis,” said Maurice Buckley, CEO, NSAI. “Investing in staff creates a knowledge based, efficient workforce which in turn leads to many benefits for organisations. Employees that are encouraged to continuously improve are more likely to have new ideas and adapt to new technologies and methods, resulting in an improvement in products and services at a time when companies must constantly create and innovate to meet growing customer demands.”

“Tonight is recognition of the commitment shown by Irish companies to standards of excellence and it reinforces Ireland’s ability to excel on the world stage, across a range of industries such as pharmaceuticals, education and healthcare,” continued Buckley.

Version 1 won took two awards, both the overall Excellence in People Development award and the Category 2 award for “Effective communication and people engagement”.

Other winners were Olive Media and EMC.

“The sixteen finalists at the Excellence in People Development Awards, and the eight companies who received Excellence Through People certification, are examples of the commitment shown by Irish businesses to creating competitive advantages as new opportunities arise and as the economy continues to grow,” said Ged Nash, T.D, Minister of State for Business and Employment. “These businesses recognise that standards are crucial for companies who want to compete on the global stage. Standards are becoming a pre-requisite in many industries including construction, engineering and food and they offer real benefits to Irish businesses such as cost savings and increased efficiency.”
