UPC reports increase in broadband, phone subscriptions in Q1 2015

UPC has reported a continued gains in the broadband and home phone subscriptions for the first quarter of 2015, although digital cable TV subscriptions continued their slide.

UPC parent company Liberty Global’s results for January to March 2015 earnings dropped 0.4% ($16.8 million) to $4.5 billion. This was reflected in a 7.4% drop in earnings for the UK & Ireland of $1.71 billion from $1.84 billion over the same quarter in 2014.

Total subscriptions at the end of the quarter totalled 1,101,900, an 8% increase over the same period in 2014 but down from the 1,111,200 for the fourth quarter of 2014.

Broadband subscriptions were 365,800, up slightly on the 363,400 on the previous quarter. Phone subscriptions of 344,300 also saw an increase to 349,600.

Digital cable TV subscriptions of 321,500 represented a drop from 333,200.
