Fujitsu Bluetooth Ring

Fujitsu is continuing its push into wearables for the workplace with a prototype Bluetooth ring that lets users ‘write’ in the air so they can work hands-free.
Fujitsu's Bluetooth ringThe gestural device goes on the index finger and can be used to write Japanese characters, Latin letters or numbers in mid-air. A linked smartphone or other Bluetooth mobile device with a Fujitsu app can instantly recognize numbers written with the ring with about 95% accuracy, according to developer Fujitsu Laboratories.
The ring can also be used to select items in a menu shown in a linked head-mounted display and to retrieve information from NFC (near field communication) tags.
The chunky plastic ring houses motion sensors, an NFC tag reader and a Bluetooth low energy module in addition to a battery that lasts about eight hours. The prototype weighs less than 10 grams.
The recognition technology developed by Fujitsu is able to distinguish and ignore the unwanted connections between the strokes. The more strokes a character has, the better the recognition rate, according to the company.
Fujitsu is continuing to test the Bluetooth ring with an eye to launching it for enterprises by April 2016.

Samsung A7

Samsung is coming out with a new phablet that will incorporate a metal frame instead of the more familiar plastic chassis. The A7 comes just a few months after Samsung announced its two smaller siblings, the A5 and the A3, in late October.
Samsung A7The A7, however, is not only bigger with a 5.5″ high definition AMOLED display, but also packs more computing power in the form of two separate quad-core processors.
In addition, it has a larger battery at 2,600mAh, but still maintains a thickness of only 6.3mm, making it thinner than the A5 and A3.
The phone runs Android 4.4, has 4G LTE connectivity, and a 13MP rear-facing camera, along with a 5MP front-facing camera. Inside is 2Gb of RAM, 16Gb of storage and a microSD card slot to add more memory.
