Three has signed a five-year contract worth €65 million with systems integrator Amdocs to support the mobile operator’s digital overhaul.

“This €65 million investment is the next step in what is an exciting journey for Three as we continue to deliver on the promises we made when we acquired O2 in 2014,” said Robert Finnegan, CEO, Three. “At that time we promised two new MVNOs, which we have delivered.  We promised new jobs, which we delivered by creating 100 new roles when we transferred customer care calls to Limerick from Mumbai. We also promised innovation and delivering the best experience for our customers and that is what this project will achieve.

“This new agreement will substantially reduce Three’s annual IT costs which is good news for our customers as it allows Three to continue to offer great value tariffs. The acquisition of O2 in 2014 has made this investment possible.”

Eric Updyke, group president of systems integration & operations, Amdocs, said: “Our industry is changing rapidly and in this fast-moving digital world customers expect new services and capabilities at unprecedented speed. Our software and services will provide Three Ireland with a comprehensive, digital experience solution, leveraging customer data, digital interactions and new engagement channels to capture the world of digital immediacy and rise to a new level of customer experience.”

Three has 2 million customers across the Republic of Ireland.
