Tesco Mobile reported an increase of over 40% in its costumer base to 300,000 users over 2014, making it Ireland’s largest MVNO. Growth has been driven by strong value tariffs, competitive handset price points and additional dedicated Tesco phone shop locations.

Tesco Mobile is a virtual network operator (MVNO) partnership between Tesco and Three (previously with O2), with 5.9% (estimated) market share.

Recent growth in pay monthly customers is driven by a number of new offers including a €25 Sim only tariff (unlimited calls, texts and data) and a €50 tariff, which accounted for nearly 20% of pay monthly sales over Christmas.

Tesco Mobile managing director Elaine Russell (pictured) said: “Passing 300,000 customers is a significant milestone for Tesco Mobile and we aim to continue to grow our customer base this year by responding to customer feedback and continuing to provide market leading value on our price plans and handsets, great data allowances and excellent customer service.”
