Roscommon-based technology services company myITdepartment.ie is to create 10 new full-time roles that will see the company grow to 28 employees.

The new jobs will encompass a range of skill sets including positions in technical and engineering roles as well as finance, digital marketing and sales at a new premises in Athleague.

Established in 2003 by Seamus Quinn, myITdepartment.ie provides full IT service support and managed technology services to more than 200 clients based all across Ireland operating in the professional services, healthcare, logistics, aviation, hospitality, manufacturing and retail sectors including Stobart Air (formerly Aer Arann), Acelity (formerly KCI Medical), specialist engineers TEG and financial services firm DHKN, as well as clients in both the UK and US.

“We are delighted to be in a position to offer these high quality jobs, particularly in rural Ireland. We have built up a very successful, growing company in the midlands despite a number of challenges including a lack of high speed broadband, which is obviously crucial to our business. We have had to invest significantly in a wireless connection to facilitate business growth and the high calibre services we offer. The new government should prioritise investment in services outside of Dublin to enable more SMEs to develop and provide high quality employment,” said founder and managing director Seamus Quinn.

“Thanks to the broadband that we have invested in, we can cater for clients right across Ireland as well as overseas, in the UK and US – and we are expanding more this year into those international markets,” continued Seamus. “It gives us great flexibility and enables us to cater for clients wherever they are located. The widespread availability of high speed broadband across rural Ireland would open up huge opportunities for further development and employment in the region.”

The company has built and maintains its own suite of managed services – including hosted e-mail, e-mail filtering, off-site back-up, secure file sharing, hosted anti-virus, and systems monitoring. The company also plans to launch an offsite disaster recovery solution in the coming months.
