Ireland’s business and tech communities will be trekking across Dublin in search of valuable clues on 7 July with the return of the Techies4TempleStreet treasure hunt.

Since the first treasure hunt in 2015, Techies4TempleStreet has raised over €400,000 for Temple Street Childrens Hospital. These funds have been put to work in the hospital to provide life-saving equipment and services.

Denise Fitzgerald, CEO at Temple Street Foundation, said: “Now in its third year, Techies4TempleStreet has already made a huge difference to Temple Street Children’s Hospital and its patients.

“Over 100 teams participated in 2016, from the worlds of tech, finance, law, media and recruitment, raising €200,000. This year we’re hoping to have over 150 teams from an even more diverse range of companies, big and small.”

Software entrepreneur Ray Nolan said: “Despite the name, you don’t need to be a techie to participate – all that’s required is enthusiasm, an appetite for fun, teamwork and a desire to seek out Dublin’s biggest treasure troves.

“For smaller companies in particular, the treasure trail is an excellent opportunity to mingle with some of the largest multinationals in the country, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Zendesk.”

The winning team will be crowned Ireland’s Smartest Techies, a title currently held by cybersecurity company Corvil, having won both the 2015 and 2016 competitions.

Techies4TempleStreet, organised by Temple Street Hospital in association with Zendesk, takes place on 7 July at the RDS in Dublin.
