Regina Moran, CEO, Fujitsu Ireland, was awarded Person of the Year at the 2014 Tech Excellence Awards

1 April 2015

On 14 May 2015, the tech Excellence Awards will, for the 15th time, recognise outstanding achievement in the Irish ICT industry, from individuals and teams to indigenous organisations and multi-national companies.

The core of the awards is the independent judging panel, comprised of respected industry figures, including serial entrepreneurs, business mentors and advisors.

This year the panel features Eoin O’Driscoll, Dr Jim Mountjoy, Tom McCarthy, Peter McManaman, Dr Seán Baker and Karl Flannery. With expertise spanning decades and ranging from start-ups to industry boards, policy groups and academia, the panel brings insightful adjudication that produces worthy winners.

The 2014 event saw 21 award categories, with special awards for tech start-up of the year, as well the rising star award that recognises the achievements of young people in the industry, industry person of the year, and, for the first time, a lifetime achievement award.

The industry person of the year was awarded to Regina Moran, CEO, Fujitsu Ireland (pictured), in recognition of her work, not only in leading the Irish division of a major multi-national, but for work in the wider industry, bringing experts in various fields to Ireland to speak, and participation in various boards and committees, not least of which was as chair of ICT Ireland and latterly, president of Engineers Ireland.

The rising star award 2014 went to Mark Reilly, senior developer with MOR Solutions, for excellence in IT architecture and development. Company of the Year went to Version 1, with IT Project of the Year in the Public Sector won by McKesson with the HSE for NIMIS and the Private Sector Project award going to Arkphire with HCA Healthcare. The SME project award went to AirSpeed Telecom with e|net.

Trinity College Dublin’s Information Systems Services won the Data Centre of the Year award for an innovative implementation within its historic grounds.

There is already a strong entry list for the 2015 event, reflecting the strength and continued growth of the ICT industry here, despite recent macro-economic trends and domestic issues.

The judges will be working throughout April to evaluate all entries and determine what they judge to be the people and organisations excelling in their field.

The host will once again be the respected broadcaster and journalist Matt Cooper for the black tie event at the Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin.
