Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton hosted on a four-day trade mission of 40 innovative exporting Irish companies to Texas last week amongst which IT training company SureSkills featured strongly.

Over the course of the four-day Enterprise Ireland organised programme, SureSkills attended with the Minister over 20 trade events and meetings in Houston, Dallas and Austin, as well as holding meetings with multinational companies already working with SureSkills or considering doing so.

Brian Kinsella, CEO of SureSkills, said: "SureSkills Learning Services was designed with the global market place in mind and we have significant opportunities in Texas and the US market as a whole."

Minister Bruton said: "At the heart of the Government’s plan for jobs and growth is our ambition to create a powerful engine of indigenous enterprise. As part of the transition to a new economy based on enterprise, innovation and exports that we are supporting, we must not only continue to grow jobs in multinational companies, but also support ambitious Irish companies seeking to grow their exports and jobs.

This is the 13th trade mission that Minister Bruton has been on since he took the position in March of 2011, and it is his first to Texas. Recent years have spawned a boom in business for the State of Texas, with the leading growth industries being the Technology and biotech sectors.
