Fifty of Europe’s most investable ICT start-ups will assemble in Dublin on 3-4 November for the two-day Silicon Stroll Bootcamp.

Some 130 companies put themselves forward for selection in the European-wide competition which is being funded by European Investor Gate (EIG), an EU project promoting international investment in ICT start-ups and is being managed by Dublin Business Innovation Centre (Dublin BIC).

Of the 50 selected companies, Ireland will be providing 20 start-ups, the largest number from any of the 13 European countries represented.

The Silicon Stroll Bootcamp has as its theme ‘Future Insights, Trends and Innovations’ and according to Dublin BIC’s John Phelan: “The event will have in attendance the most cutting edge ICT innovators in Europe. These are the companies most likely to succeed with a disruptive market changing technology. It is a huge honour for Dublin to host this very high profile and much anticipated event and it is a great opportunity for us as a business community to engage and learn.”

Irish companies participating in the event include NewsWhip, a leader in providing real time analytics for the social Web with customers including Bloomberg, Disney, BuzzFeed and AoL; Vivocha, winner of the 2014 Red Herring Top 100 Europe and provider of an Online Customer Interaction platform; and Xintec, providers of fraud management and revenue assurance solutions to the telecommunications industry.

Entrepreneurs will visit the offices of Google, PayPal and IBM to gain an inside understanding on the future of global technologies as perceived by these tech giants. Participants will have the opportunity to liaise directly with the innovation leaders from these leading global companies.

The bootcamp will culminate in a finale where one company will be crowned as Europe’s most investable start-up walking away with a cash prize. Regardless of the placings it is expected, however, that many of the entrants will come away with new backers.

International investors will also have a front seat as the entrepreneurs battle it out in pitching sessions before a panel drawn from investment preparation specialists and business angel groups.

The Silicon Stroll Bootcamp is supported by Google, PayPal, IBM, the Web Summit, Enterprise Ireland, the ACE project and Microsoft Ireland.
