Viewsonic TV puts video centre stage

Viewsonic, a specialist in the field of visual display products for homes, business and the education market, has unveiled a new model, the VX2433wm. It looks impressive with its high-gloss black chassis, and the only disappointment was that the stand is not height-adjustable, though there is a VESA mount for hanging it on a wall.

However, the 23.6″ screen is obviously the prime component, and this generally provides high value, with a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 and a matte coating to minimise reflections. In addition, an aspect ratio of 16:9 allied with a dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000:1 make this VX2433wm is particularly well suited to video playback. Blurring of images is minimised by a 2ms response time.

Audio, pumped through a pair of 2W speakers, is adequate though not amazing. Input connections come in the shape of VGA, DVI-D and HDMI. HDCP-compliance ensures it display copy-protected HD content via the DVI connection if required.

On-screen menu is via four buttons on the chassis’ right side, and options include a power-saving Eco-mode.

While viewing angles are acceptable but not great, colours are vivid and clear, while text is crisp and easy to read.

The Viewsonic VX2433wm costs around EUR*250 (inc VAT).
