Microsoft Lync is, as almost everyone will know by now, an industry-leading unified communications (UC) solution which delivers complete presence, instant messaging, conferencing and enterprise voice capabilities, all through a single, easy-to-use interface consistent across all devices.

Now recognised as not only a UC platform but also a complete IP-PBX replacement too, Videnda is in a unique position to allow Irish businesses to fully realise the potential of Lync, acting as a one stop shop for Lync infrastructure and peripherals.

As a trade-only specialist distributor around UC solutions, we work with and support a wide range of resellers across different sectors in Ireland. Working closely with Microsoft themselves, and our resellers, we’ve been involved in most of the major Lync deployments in Ireland to date.

Currently, in the region of 90% of the Fortune 100 companies have Microsoft Lync deployed. Even for those not using it as a PBX replacement, what’s really strong with Lync is the federation, creating business-to-business connectivity.

As proof, we use it ourselves, helping maintain and build our relationship with Microsoft as well as other UC vendors such as Polycom and other companies we distribute exclusively here in Ireland.

We are the sole Irish distributors for a number of industry-leading Lync solutions from companies such as Sangoma (a Canadian company whose Lync in a Box, Session Border controllers and add-ons to Microsoft 365 are proving very popular), Spectralink (Lync certified Wi-Fi and DECT solutions), as well as Lync-focused audio solutions from Sennheiser and Phoenix.

In addition, our range of powerful Lync peripherals includes Vaddio’s EasyUSB tools as well as its GroupSTATION and HuddleSTATION systems which make it easy to create BYOD-ready meeting rooms. In the case of the latter, areas of the office where – as the name suggest – employees can ‘huddle’ together can now become professional meeting rooms. A single laptop can act as the hub, utilising the HuddleSTATION’s HD camera, excellent sound quality and speaker to boot. Again that’s an option that’s proving enormously popular in the Irish market since its release.

Elsewhere Polycom’s Lync certified VVX range of desktop phones, with HD voice, are the most common Lync voice handsets. While known for its conference phones, on the video front Polycom’s CX5100 HD Unified Conference Station also creates a roundtable, 360-degree panoramic view video design that brings direct integration with the Lync client into meeting room spaces. Polycom has also recently announced a new Lync Room system, the CX8000.

With all of these tools and much more on board, we’re continuing to expand our Lync offerings as we can see a clear trend that points to Microsoft really driving on against other major players in the UC space such as Cisco and Avaya.

As a trade distributor with a support channel that’s unrivalled, we’re also continuing to build up our relationship with Microsoft, Polycom, Vaddio and others to ensure Irish resellers can offer end users the best Lync offerings on the market. Resellers and end users are welcome to avail of our demo suite in Citywest, to experience first-hand, the real potential of Microsoft Lync and associated peripherals.
