JumpStart award shortlist 2012

The Learning and Innovation Centre (LINC) at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB) has announced the shortlist for its annual business competition JumpStart 2012. Six Dublin businesses were shortlisted from a wide array of entries from Irish entrepreneurs.

LINC said that entries were up some 25% over last year, with a consistent high quality, displaying a range of innovation, start-up entrepreneurship and global potential.

The six companies shortlisted for JumpStart 2012 are Chillicam, Cypro Software, EZY Technology Innovations, Jamworld Technologies, uTRAC and Willstream Labs.

The JumpStart 2012 prize is valued at €25,000, and sponsored by the LINC, AIB and FCEB. The prize includes €5,000 in cash for the winning company plus the cost of the incubation space for twelve months, the varied and fantastic mentoring support available to the Company from industry experts and a range of useful business start-up packages including design (Grafton Media), media, technology equipment (HP), print (Snap Printing), call answering (Kendlebell) and more.

The 2012 shortlist will be judged on Thursday 15 November where the six start-up companies will get the opportunity to present their ideas to a very experienced panel including Bobby Kerr, Judith Troy, regional manager, AIB, Oisin Geoghegan, CEO, Fingal County Enterprise Board, and George Kiely, regional director, Enterprise Ireland, and chaired by Assumpta Harvey, manager, LINC.

"The standard of applications was extremely high this year," said Assumpta Harvey, manager, LINC, "with applications received from businesses from many diversified sectors including; agriculture, software to specialist clothing.  After much deliberation the shortlisting panel have identified six innovative start-up companies.
November 15 will be a very exciting day as these six businesses pitch to the expert panel and we look forward to working with the winner for the next
12 months".

JumpStart 2012 Shortlist Details

Chillicam

Chillicam is a Video Software as a Service (VSaaS) Company developing Innovative Online Services for the Global Security Market.

Cypro Software

Cypro Software, based in Dublin 15, develops applications to protect critical infrastructure industrial control systems from cyber & malicious attack.

Jamworld Technologies

Jamworld Technologies are developing an online community & social network which will provide amateur musicians across the world with an easy to follow digital marketing strategy & a suite of tools to enhance their profiles, reaching larger targeted audiences.

EZY Technology Innovations

EZY Technology Innovations was set up to research, develop, manufacture & bring new products to the agricultural machinery market place. The EZY Crop non-tipping trailer, designed to reduce crop damage, & the EZY Fill bulk filler have already been developed.

uTRAC

uTRAC is an online workforce management system for recruitment agencies that supply subcontracted labour teams to clients with highly variable requirements.

Willstream Labs

Willstream Labs enables migrants around the world to take control of their finances & remittances, connecting them directly to businesses in the emerging markets.
