Irish student wins EU Young Scientist award

Castleknock student Alexander Amini has been awarded the top prize at the EU Young Scientists competition in Helsinki. Having tied for first place with students from Switzerland and Lithuania, Amini received a cheque for €7,000 and all-expenses-paid trip to the London International Youth Science Forum.

The 15-year-old was one of 87 entries from 37 different countries. His project looked at the application of science in sport, specifically how sensors can be used to track a tennis player’s movements.
