Inflyte, a digital platform that allows record labels, pluggers, PR companies and publishers to send music directly to industry ‘taste makers’, was named company of the year at Invest Northern Ireland’s Propel Programme Awards held last week.

Founded by Paul Hamill and business partner Paul McConnon, Inflyte was one of 25 start-ups accepted onto the 2013/14 Propel programme, aimed at developing export-focused business ideas with high growth potential.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Paul Hamill of Inflyte said: “With the support of the Propel programme, we have turned Inflyte from a concept into a viable business with a team of people and bases in Belfast, London and Berlin. We’re looking towards the future with real confidence.”

Other winners on the night included Limejar – an interactive learning environment for children with autism – for breakthrough business of the year, and Ruach Music for best go to market strategy.

Collectively, the 2013/14 cohort of Propel participants has raised £1.2 million (€1.56 million) in equity investment over the course of the programme and 11 start-ups received £290,000 in Proof of Concept grants which are currently delivered by techstartNI.

As well as a series of business and skills development workshops and facilitated networking sessions, Propel participants are given access to experienced businesspeople for valuable one-to-one mentoring.
