ICS meets Finnish reps to tap into IT pro surplus
In part due to the massive downsizing at Microsoft/Nokia, Finland has 12,000 unemployed ICT professionals, many of whom would consider a move to Ireland. At a meeting organised by Eures Ireland, the European Employment Services, we learned that there are funds, staff and other resources available to help employers and jobseekers get matched across European borders.

Various government agencies are actively promoting Ireland across the world but cultural, linguistic and geographical differences can present challenges. In many ways, Finland could be one of the best countries to recruit from. Finland is relatively close, has one of the highest standards of English in the world, and the Finnish have positive perceptions of Ireland; its people, culture and economy.

For more information on these job fairs please contact: Tomi Puranen, tomi.puranen@te-toimisto.fi

If you have comments or enquiries about this opportunity, please email Tom O’Sullivan, Deputy CEO, tom@ics.ie or join the discussion on LinkedIn.

Iasa World Conference 2016 set for Dublin

The 2016 Iasa World Conference for IT Architects will take place on 7 July at the Iasa HQ in Ballsbridge.

The conference goals this year are:

  • To provide IT architects with radical new ideas on how to survive and thrive in a world of digital disruption
  • To provide attendees with practical experiments they can try out in their day jobs, irrespective of their current role and responsibilities

The conference theme will be “The Art and Science of Digital Architecture”. Science alone is not enough to imagine our digital age future. The path ahead requires intuition and experimentation. Art and science. Human and machine.

  • Digital architects need to combine art and science to create value-generating digital architectures
  • They need to discover what new technologies to deploy, and design the processes to support them
  • They must design the structures that allow humans to thrive in this environment

We want our attendees to leave with a list of experiments they can try out in the real world that will help them develop new skills and capabilities they will need in the digital first world.

Call for Speakers

We are currently looking for speakers for the event on 7 July.

  • Please provide a short biography we can publish on the conference web site
  • Speaking slot is no longer than 40 minutes
  • Provide a theme-aligned session blurb no later than the end of April 2016.
