HP has appointed Paul Chapman, former VP for global infrastructure and cloud operations at VMware, as CIO of its software business.
As CIO of HP Software, Chapman is responsible for the IT organisation supporting the development and delivery of IT solutions for HP Software, according to his LinkedIn profile. Businesses in the division include the controversial Autonomy, a British firm formerly owned by Dr Mike Lynch, Vertica, IT management and Enterprise Security.
He will report to HP’s global CIO Ramon Baez.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Baez said that at VMware, Chapman was responsible for the company’s software-defined datacentre and worldwide cloud operations. In a previous role at the company, he was VP of information technology, responsible for VMware’s business applications division across the globe.
Chapman has more than 25 years of IT experience. In addition to his role at VMware, he has worked at DNA micro arrays manufacturer Affymetrix, Sun Microsystems, telco AT&T and consumer transactions technology company NCR.
HP recently appointed Ralph Loura, former CIO of manufacturer Clorox Co, as CIO for its Enterprise group.
