Job-matching and upskilling app HiUp is to expand into the US thanks to a new partnership with global safety science company UL.

“There are over 79 million so-called blue collar workers across the construction, manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, retail, customer service and supply chain management sectors,” said HiUp CEO Brendan Kavanagh. “HiUp has signed an exclusive three-year agreement with UL to host 1,200 US-accredited courses specifically targeting workers in those sectors.

“Through our new partnership with UL, we’re aiming to claim 10% of the market share for this category of worker. We’re projecting our revenue from this partnership and others to be in excess of $100 million.”

HiUp will launch in the US in January 2017 and the partnership with UL will mean international jobseekers can undertake regulatory training.

“HiUP’s partnership with UL provides an opportunity for Irish people who want to work in the US, whether as a student on a J1 visa or a skilled worker, to take US accredited courses and immediately start getting notifications of jobs that are available to them now that they have the required certifications. This is true not only for Irish jobseekers looking to work in the USA, but for jobseekers worldwide,” said Kavanagh.
